It’s been aaaaages since I wrote on my blog.
Two and a half months to be exact, which basically makes me the worst hobby blogger ever. But, I think I have a semi-decent excuse: I’ve been in the process of moving 9,500 miles from Sydney, Australia to Charlotte, North Carolina! That said, I did get to NC over six weeks ago, so I’ll blame my lack of writing on the fact that I’m still getting my life sorted out 🙂
Why North Carolina?
The company I work for recently opened an office in Charlotte, and I was really fortunate to be offered a position in the new office. After six years of living in Australia, John and I were starting to feel ready to be back on this side of the world, so the transfer came at a great time.
The past couple months have been a whirlwind. We sold a good chunk of our possessions and had the rest packed up and put on a boat to be shipped to NC (that was 9 weeks ago, and we still don’t have our shipment ahhhhh). We said goodbye to all our friends and went to our favourite places one last time. By the time we left, we were down to four suitcases and staying in an Airbnb in Newtown as our lease in Bondi had run out!
We had to fly through the US for visa reasons, but then headed up to Canada for two weeks to spend some time with family and friends. It was so great to go home, and we had a such a good time visiting everyone. We flew back to Charlotte mid-June, and have been living here ever since!
I’ll write some posts about our time in Canada, the misadventures we’ve experienced since leaving Australia, and some of the weekend trips we’ve been on over the past month.
It’s great to be back online! 😀
